I've always had major issues with the way this country is being run, and now after 18 boring years of life, my opinions finally count. Now, I know they don't count to the asshole who owns the voting booth company, who's either going to destroy my vote or change it, but that's beside the point. I'm not the only one who's feeling this way. I once heard that there were more people born in the year 1990 than any other year in history, I have nothing to back that up, but it's a nice thought isn't it? That the so called "milleneal generation" that I'm so proudly part of, is going to essentially decide the election. That my friend, is what we call a republican's nightmare.
Let me tell you a little something about the folks who voted for the republicans in the last election. According to CNN 50% plus percent of the voters for Bush in 2004 were 60 or older white men, and 63% were men who made $200,000 or more a year.
Ladies and gentlemen, that's not who's voting this year, and don't you think that scares the shit out of Bush? That the people voting in this election are smart, informed, teenagers, that know how to make a good decision.
Another interesting statistic I found, thanks to CNN, was that 53% of the people who voted for Bush didn't have a college degree. Though the milleneal generation is defined as 1980-1995, meaning that not all of us are in college, it doesn't seem to matter in this day and age. All of us have grown up with CNN breaking news being sent to our cell phones, and never going more than a hour without seeing the news on t.v. We are the most informed generation simply because we haven't been able to take our eyes off the t.v. I have a feeling that that scares the republicans more than anything.
People who know the truth, people who are informed, who can see how you really voted on that bill two years ago, instead of how you say you voted. We are your worst nightmare, and we are the saving grace for the democrats. Which, god knows the dems need it.
Which brings me to a much needed lashing at my own party. When you get on national television and start yelling at each other because of wal-mart committees and slum land lords, you don't look like the politicians who are going to save this country from the shit place it's become. You look like children fighting over the fucking playground and you look like you are trying to make a funny youtube video that's a spoof on politicians. You don't look intelligent, and you don't look mature.
Honestly, most of the folks in my generation look down upon that. You're not winning any votes with that, and certainly not mine. But then again, I don't want a Bush look a like in the white house for the next four years, so the democrats really have become the lesser of the two evils.
